Vanguard Public Affairs today announced the addition of veteran Michigan journalist, columnist and communications professional Andrew Heller.
Heller will serve as the company’s vice president. He brings more than 30 years of journalism and communications experience to Vanguard, including 25 years as an award-winning columnist for The Flint Journal and MLive newspapers.

Prior to joining Vanguard, Heller was senior director for Lambert, Edwards & Associates, a prominent Michigan communications firm. During his three years with LE&A, Heller headed a statewide team working with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan as it successfully transitioned to nonprofit mutual status, adapted to the Affordable Care Act and expanded its brand programming. He also led teams working with Help Eliminate Auto Thefts (H.E.A.T.), Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit and other clients in the health care and nonprofit sectors.
For a quarter of a century, Heller also has been an enduringly popular columnist for The Flint Journal and MLive, winning 20 awards for excellence from the Michigan Associated Press, the Detroit Press Club, the Michigan Press Association and the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. His column currently appears in 10 papers statewide. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Michigan University.
Heller’s addition caps a month of steady growth for Vanguard, which earlier announced a strategic partnership with 834 Design & Marketing, an award-winning integrated communications agency based in West Michigan.
