Eyer Returning To Vanguard Public Affairs As Senior VP
Vanguard Public Affairs announced today that Jen Eyer will be returning to the company May 29 with a promotion to senior vice president, following her work on the successful launch of former Senate Democratic leader Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign for governor.
Eyer took a leave of absence from Vanguard in January to lead communications for Whitmer for Governor. Under her direction, the campaign more than doubled its social media following, generated an abundance of positive media coverage, and engaged in key grassroots outreach.
Vanguard President and CEO TJ Bucholz said he is looking forward to the company’s continued growth with Eyer in a key leadership position.
“We know that Jen’s strong leadership, integrity and deep connections in the media and public sectors here in Michigan bring tremendous value to Vanguard,” Bucholz said. “Our current and future clients will benefit greatly from Jen’s expertise.”
Eyer said she’s looking forward to this next chapter with Vanguard Public Affairs.
“In just three years, TJ Bucholz has grown Vanguard into the leading progressive public affairs firm in Lansing, and I look forward to helping accelerate that growth,” Eyer continued. “I’m proud of the results Vanguard achieves for its diverse client base, including ACLU of Michigan and Middle Cities Education Association, to champion progressive ideas and causes that are critical to our state’s future.”
Well known in the media community, Eyer has 20 years of journalism and communications experience, including serving as the award-winning editorial voice of the MLive Media Group chain of newspapers across Michigan.
Eyer has been working in digital news media since its inception in the 1990s. From 2000 to 2016, she held a variety of leadership positions with MLive, and from 2010 to 2016 served as director of engagement — first for AnnArbor.com, then for MLive — overseeing the company’s statewide editorial board, social media and reader engagement strategies. She first joined Vanguard in April 2016.
