Natalie joined Vanguard as a communications manager in February. Over the past three months she has become an integral member of our team. We think it's time you get to know her!
How is the transition from college student to working professional going?
I think my transition has been fairly smooth. I actually interned with a firm just before being hired at Vanguard, which was a good stepping stone to help me understand what the work/workload would be like in my current job. Obviously, there is still a learning curve, but it definitely made the transition easier.
What do you like most about working at Vanguard?
The best part of working at Vanguard is being able to collaborate with the other managers. Usually there are two or three people assigned to a project, so we're always working together. Each one of our managers is so talented and I learn something new from them every day.
How would you describe the workplace culture?
There is an amazing sense of teamwork at Vanguard that I truly appreciate. I know that if I ever have a problem or question, I can go to anyone in the company and they will help me figure it out.
What previous experiences have you been drawing on to guide you?
During college I held many different internships, and I think I've taken a little bit from each one of them to help me in my work here at Vanguard. Through those experiences, I have learned a lot about multi-tasking, prioritizing and managing my time, which all come into play in an agency setting.
Which projects are you most excited to work on at Vanguard?
I have the most experience with nonprofits, so in that regard, I enjoy working with those clients because they're the ones I feel most comfortable with. However, I am excited to learn new things and work in areas that I've never had the chance to before. I want to get a little taste of everything, so I'm excited for whatever comes my way.
What do you like to do outside of work?
When I'm not at work, you can usually find me spending time with my family and friends. I also really love traveling, so even on the weekends I try to take little mini-vacations around the state.
What is your favorite sports team?
Anyone who has ever met me should know the answer to this question. I absolutely love the Detroit Red Wings. Hockey is by far my favorite sport to watch, and the Wings just do it better.
What are you currently Netflix binging?
I don't actually have Netflix (crazy, I know), but I plan on getting a subscription soon. When I do, I have a long list of shows to watch that people have recommended, but I think I'm going to start with Master of None.
