Vanguard Public Affairs – a full-service strategic communications and marketing firm headquartered in Lansing – today announced the promotion of Ashlea Phenicie from the position of Senior Digital Media Manager to Creative Director.
“Ashlea continues to impress clients and staff alike with her amazing design work, digital savvy, and web expertise,” said Vanguard President and CEO TJ Bucholz. “As Vanguard continues to grow, her leadership of our young element of professionals becomes increasingly important. We’re thrilled to have her play a vital role inside our company.”
Since her hire in 2015, Phenicie has been promoted twice, while impressing political, corporate, and non-profit clients alike with her dazzling skills in the digital realm, creating professional videos, infographics, graphic design work and social media platforms that compel action.
Phenicie, 23, is a December 2015 Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University, where she majored in integrative public relations and minored in media design production and technology.
Vanguard also has hired three associate level employees – Ally Kelly, Terzah Dyer, and Luke Bucholz. Kelly is a 2017 graduate of Western Michigan University, where she majored in communications and women’s studies. Dyer is a second year student at Lansing Community College who plans on attending Ferris State University to finish her degree in public affairs. Bucholz, son of founder TJ Bucholz, plans to graduate Grand Ledge High School in 2018, after which he will continue political science and communications studies at a Michigan university. All three assist with writing projects, graphic design, and digital media content.
Phenicie’s promotion and the associate hires continue Vanguard’s growth into becoming one of the state’s most influential communications and public relations firms. The 12-person Vanguard team currently represents 16 clients in three states, including Michigan, Texas, and Florida, ranging from education, financial services, energy, law firms, social justice, transportation, and campaigns and elections.
In 2015, Vanguard established a strategic partnership with 834 Design & Marketing, an award-winning integrated communications agency based in Grand Rapids, providing content marketing, communications, public relations, social media, web site design, and special event counsel.
In recent months, Vanguard has continued to grow, restructuring its internal operations and promoting two long-term staffers to Senior Vice Presidents. Katherine Erickson manages Vanguard’s day-to-day operations, while Jen Eyer is responsible for branding and development.
