Vanguard Public Affairs Hires Veteran Public Affairs Professional A. Edwin Dore as Chief Administrat

Vanguard Public Affairs is announcing the hire of veteran public affairs and expert government practitioner A. Edwin Dore as the company’s new Chief Administrative Officer.

Dore, who retired from Public Affairs Associates – one of the state Capital’s top lobbying firms – at the end of 2018, will assist Vanguard with its financial and new business structures, along with servicing clients in the healthcare, state and municipal government practice areas.

“If you are at all familiar with quality state government operations over the course of the last three decades, Ed Dore is at the top of any wish list of professionals who know how to deliver results, accomplish complicated tasks and get the job done,” said TJ Bucholz, Vanguard Public Affairs President and Managing Partner. “Ed has been my trusted friend and mentor for more than a decade, and I expect he will be a great fit for current and prospective clients who expect and demand top quality service and knowledge of the political landscape.”

Dore, former chief deputy director in three different state departments including the Department of State, the Department of Management and Budget, and the Department of Health and Human Services, has a long history in state government serving both Democratic and Republican elected officials at the executive levels.

He also has experience working in local government (Wayne and Ingham counties), the state Legislature, former New York Governor and Presidential aspirant Nelson Rockefeller, as well as a host of hospital boards and foundations across Michigan. Dore has also been a top-rated registered lobbyist in Lansing, working for the law firm Dykema and most recently, PAA, where he has been an integral part of their growth since 2009.

“Ed has an unparalleled knowledge of the inner-workings of state departments and agencies within the Michigan government, including the department appropriations and purchasing/contracting processes,” said Jen Eyer, Vanguard Partner. “He also knows and maintains solid working relationships with the key personnel and decision makers in those departments. He is a fantastic addition to our team.”

Dore holds an AB in Public Finance and Administration from the University of Michigan, and a dual MPA/JD from Wayne State University and the University of Michigan. During his college tenure, Ed also played football at the University of Michigan. He and his wife, Melissa, who is a retired staff member for U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, have two grown sons and reside in Haslett.

“I can’t say enough good things about the growth path of Vanguard Public Affairs under TJ’s leadership,” Dore said. “I’m looking forward to learning this company, working with current and prospective clients, and continuing the upward trend line for this organization. Together, we intend to make Vanguard the firm of choice in Michigan for clients looking for a public affairs edge.”

Vanguard also announced today the promotion of Branding Coordinator Mariah Prowoznik to the position of Creative Director. Prowoznik, who has been with Vanguard since 2018, took the lead on political direct mail this past cycle and continues to add enormous value to Vanguard clients in the digital and graphic arts space.

Prowoznik is a 2015 graduate of Central Michigan University and was the first non-journalism student editor of the award-winning student newspaper Central Michigan LIFE. Before her work with Vanguard, Prowoznik was a staff member at the Traverse City Record-Eagle and also worked as a graphic designer for Knorr Marketing, a Traverse-City based marketing firm.

“Mariah’s tireless work and boundless energy over the last year have made Vanguard a force to be reckoned with on the artistic and digital fronts,” Bucholz said. “Our key clients have grown to respect her judgment and work – and so have I. I’m delighted to name her our creative director today.”
