Staff Spotlight: Mariah Prowoznik
Tell us about your role at Vanguard
Currently I serve as Creative Director, but my role extends beyond typical duties of a CD. I run a social media account and do a bit of writing in addition to designing logos, social graphics, simple websites and direct mail pieces. I also contribute to strategy meetings and will be managing a graphic design intern this summer, which I'm really excited for.
Which projects are you most excited to work on?
I joined VPA right before the 2018 primaries so a lot of the political work I was doing was already in full swing. I'm excited for the 2020 race and getting back to planning and designing political direct mail. #LongLivePrint
How do you define success?
Two ways. The first way I define success is how happy the client is. If client is happy, you did something right. The second way I define success is delivering more than is expected of me. I love helping people – whether it is troubleshooting a printing issue or showing a coworker a shortcut on how to do something faster. Going above and beyond is not necessarily expected, but you can really make someone's day by taking an extra minute to help.
What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
I'm a new puppy mom so my Westie, Freddie, takes up a lot of my time. I'm a potter as well, but I haven't been on a pottery wheel in a hot minute. If you know of any great guilds or studios in Lansing, please share! Other than that, I'm a self-proclaimed smartphone game addict. For real. If you have a game on your phone that you love, shoot me a message because I would love to try it! I also spend a lot of time on the weekends hanging out with my four sisters and two young nieces.
What color Crayola would you be?
This is a tough one because my favorite colors are black and red but I've always loved the name 'Cerulean' which is located in the blues section of the box.
